A woman was killed, and a man was injured when their house in upstate New York exploded, authorities reported.
The explosion occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the town of Lincoln, Madison County.
Emergency crews from multiple police and fire departments responded to the scene and discovered a man and a woman trapped in the debris, according to county spokesperson Samantha Field.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man was airlifted to a hospital. His condition has not yet been released.
A photo shared by county officials shows the house reduced to rubble, with only its mailbox remaining intact.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation. Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood is expected to hold a news conference later Thursday.
