A tragic incident unfolded in Ohio, resulting in the death of three young boys and the arrest of their father, Chad Doerman, who now faces charges of murder. The shocking events occurred in Clermont County, where authorities responded to distressing calls reporting gunshots and a girl frantically claiming her father was “killing everyone.”
According to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office, Doerman, 32, was apprehended at the scene of the triple homicide on Thursday. Prosecutors revealed during his bond hearing that he had allegedly carried out the attack, using a rifle to execute his three sons, aged 3, 4, and 7, whom he had lined up. The magnitude of the crime left the community in disbelief.
The distress calls came in shortly after 4 p.m., with one distraught woman reporting that her babies had been shot and another individual witnessing a girl running down the road, desperately declaring that her father was causing harm. Responding to these alarming reports, deputies arrived at a residence on Laurel Lindale Road in Monroe Township, approximately 25 miles southwest of Cincinnati. They discovered Doerman seated on a step outside the house, while the lifeless bodies of his young sons lay in the yard, victims of the senseless violence.
Despite the efforts of paramedics who swiftly arrived on the scene and administered life-saving measures, the boys succumbed to their injuries, devastating their mother, who was also present. The 34-year-old woman had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her hand. She was found outside the home and promptly transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati for medical treatment. The unimaginable task of informing her of the tragic fate that had befallen her sons fell to Clermont County Sheriff Robert Leahy, who delivered the devastating news at the hospital.
Doerman was apprehended without incident at the residence and subsequently subjected to questioning by detectives. He was then transferred to Clermont County Jail, where he is being held without bond. The authorities stated that there were no indications of forced entry into the home, and no other suspects were being sought. The investigation into the motives behind this heart-wrenching act of violence is ongoing.
During his arraignment on Friday, Doerman displayed visible emotional distress. Clad in a green bulletproof vest, he wept as prosecutors recounted the horrific events that unfolded the day before. David Gast from the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that Doerman had meticulously planned the tragic sequence of events. Gast described the father’s incomprehensible cruelty, emphasizing that he had lined up his young boys and executed them with a rifle in their own home. Gast further revealed that the mother had attempted to intervene by seizing the weapon to protect her children. Tragically, one of the boys managed to escape to a nearby field, only to be pursued and brought back to the property by his father, who callously executed him in front of witnesses.
Court documents obtained by Cincinnati’s NBC affiliate, WLWT, indicated that Doerman had confessed to meticulously planning and executing the victims’ deaths over several months. Prosecutors requested the highest bond ever sought, setting it at $20 million. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 26, although it remains uncertain whether Doerman has legal representation at this time.
