Usually, when people think about nursing home entertainment, the first thing that comes to mind usually isn’t strippers, as that’s something you would typically expect to see at a bachelor’s party. Regardless, dozens of seniors in Taiwan were in for a surprise for their entertainment for the Mid-Autumn festival when strippers arrived and began performing lapdances for them. Making matters more interesting is the fact that the nursing home, the Taoyuan Veterans Home is a state-run facility that specializes in care for retired army personnel.
This means the government actually paid for the strippers to arrive and provide entertainment for the retired vets, who didn’t seem to mind the unexpected entertainment. Images of the stripteases surfaced on social media earlier this week, and displayed the seniors getting up close and personal with the mask-wearing erotic entertainers. Other images displayed residents clapping along and enjoying the entertainment from afar.
Even though the residents of the nursing home didn’t appear to have a problem with the unique choice in entertainment, backlash led to the facility releasing an apology for the choice to hire the adult entertainers. The statement said, “The intention of the event was to entertain residents and make them happy. We are very sorry for the offense that was caused.” The nursing home hired the entertainers as part of the celebration for the Mid-Autumn festival which is among the most widely celebrated holidays in the continent.
Usually, the celebration consists of prayers for prosperity, family reunions and gratitude for the season’s harvest. This year, the sacred occasion fell on September 10th, just a few days after the strippers performed at the nursing home. The choice in entertainment that the seniors got to enjoy will likely make this Mid-Autumn festival they won’t forget anytime soon.
