A mysterious metal object has been discovered on an Australian beach, prompting a collaborative investigation involving the police, maritime partners, and potentially the military.
The sighting of the cylinder-shaped item was reported by a vigilant community member on a beach near Green Head, located in Western Australia’s mid-West Coast. In response to the report on Sunday afternoon, the WA Police were immediately alerted to the situation.
A police spokesperson stated that they are currently working to identify the type and origin of the object, which appears to have cables or wires hanging from the top.
Amid the investigation, there are reports of the WA Police coordinating with the Australian Defence Force; however, this has not been officially confirmed yet. The police spokesperson mentioned that officers are also in contact with national maritime partners to gain insights into the nature of the item.
This incident comes merely three weeks after another enigmatic device was found floating off the coast of North Beach in Perth. In that case, the Australian Defence Force personnel detonated the device, later discovering it to be a marker marine flare.
