2 men caught on fire after burning an immigration center in California on January 2nd.
Footage captured by a Ring security camera from the Servicio de Immigracion featured two men walking up to the center and pouring accelerant on the building’s side and in the parking lot, their faces hidden behind masks.
The men then huddled over a small fuel puddle, attempting to light it while the other dumped the accelerant from its container. Unfortunately for the former, the accelerant caught fire quickly and violently, setting his leg ablaze.
He fled, still on fire, panting.
The second man began to panic as well, slipping and falling twice before fleeing into the night, his clothes on fire.
One of the suspects dropped their phone during the panic, according to one worker, and it has since been turned over to authorities as they try to figure out who the arsonists are.
Fortunately, the flames were extinguished about 10 minutes after first responders arrived.
The owner of the immigration center, Max Solorzano, expressed that authorities should do more things to protect the citizens in the area.
Solorzano also expressed regret that they would be unable to assist people due to this incident. Farmworkers who want to file income taxes and other immigration documents are among their clients.
The fire was contained in the garage of the building, but smoke entered the structure and damaged other items, including an industrial fan and a Ring security camera.
Solorzano expressed sadness that someone would want to see his three-year-old business burn down.
As a result of the incident, Solorzano announced on Facebook that the store would be closed for an extended time.
A GoFundMe was set up for the immigration center’s owners.
