Man stabbed to death in ‘swarming’ attack by 8 girls

Man stabbed to death in Toronto, and the culprits were 8 female teens. These teens were charged with second-degree murder by the court.

According to sources, police identified the group as swarming, which involves victimizing a specific target.

The swarming group comprised 13-year-old to 16-year-old teens. Browne stated that some of them had previous interactions with police.

Their identities will not be revealed according to the law for juvenile offenders. Meanwhile, the victim’s name is also not released. 

Browne stated in an interview that this situation is extremely concerning because it involves a group of teenagers killing with intent.

The man stabbed to death was on the street with another person when the teens approached. Browne said that the man was stabbed for about 3 minutes and died after arriving at the hospital.

Furthermore, they gathered additional info that the suspects were at a different scene that evening.

Police also seized several weapons but did not specify which ones. Officials believe the teens planned and coordinated the crime.

He also stated that, despite their various residences, they all chose to live in Toronto. It’s as if their minds are all linked together to attack the victim.

Browne stated that the man stabbed to death had been living in Toronto’s shelter system.

Another Strathcona Hotel resident told CBC that she was outside with the victim when the girls approached. She’d brought a bottle of alcohol with her and claimed the girls tried to steal it. The victim intervened to protect the woman, but the eight teenagers attacked him.

Toronto Mayor John Tory expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and friends. He described the crime as heartbreaking because no one deserves to lose their life in such a way.

The mayor also stated that the number of people involved and their ages are concerning. Authorities wanted to know if this was a trend or a one-time occurrence.

Toronto has noted that this crime is its 17th stabbing death case since 2021.
