Man that beat Nancy Pelosi’s husband using a hammer faces charges with no bail

According to a police investigator, the man who beat Nancy Pelosi’s husband said he wanted to harm Pelosi since she’ll be in line for the highest position, president. David DePape trespassed into Pelosi’s residence, and instead of finding Nancy, her husband Paul is the only person there. DePape interrogated Paul to ask where Nancy was, but Depape didn’t like his answer, so he beat him.

Paul Pelosi was admitted into surgery due to the skull fracture and other injuries he received from DePape’s assault. Aside from Pelosi, DePape also mentioned his plans to target other prominent people in politics, said Lt. Carla Hurley. During the hearing, Depape said that his targets involve Gov Newsom and President Joe Biden‘s son.

Authorities then stated that DePape claimed to the investigators that he had other targets, which are documented but only include a local professor, several prominent politicians, and members of their families.

At the time of his hearing, DePape appeared in an orange jumpsuit and pleaded not guilty to the charges that included attempted murder, burglary, and elder abuse without bail.

Nancy Pelosi announced in November that she would step down as Democratic House leader after 20 years but would remain in office. Her official portrait was unveiled in Washington on Wednesday while the court hearing took place more than 2,500 miles (4,023 kilometers) away.
