Southern California is experiencing a drought emergency causing utility companies to target those with excessive usage rates. Many Los Angeles celebrities are being called out including Kim Kardashian, Kevin Hart, and Sylvester Stallone.

Notices of exceedance have been handed out in wealthy neighborhoods in the L.A. area including Agoura Hills, Hidden Hills, and Westlake Village. They make homeowners aware that they have surpassed their allotted monthly water usage budget at least four times.

Other celebrities targeted include Kourtney Kardashian, NBA star Dwayne Wade and wife Gabrielle Union. Many of these stars have continued to exceed their district limits despite warnings and fines.

Now the water department may install flow restriction devices that would reduce water flow to a mere trickle making it difficult for these celebrities to shower and keep their acres of lawns lush and green.

So exactly how much are these celebrities exceeding their water limits?

Kim Kardashian’s two adjoining lots in Hidden Hills exceeded their limit by 232,000 gallons leading to an overuse bill of $2325.

Sister Kourtney who lives in nearby Calabasas went over her limit by 101,000 gallons.

Dwayne Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union are making some progress. In June they exceeded their water limit by 90,000, a considerable reduction from May’s excess of 489,000.

Sylvester Stallone used 230,000 excess gallons of water going over budget by 533%. He claims the mature fruit trees on his property would die without sufficient watering.

Kevin Hart has gone 117,000 gallons over his allowance on his Calabasas property.

“For the celebrities or musicians of athletes who all live in the area, monetary penalties are going to be meaningless to them because it doesn’t matter. They have plenty of money, and if they want to, they could spend $5000 a month on a water bill,” explained Las Virgenes Municipal Water District spokesman Mike McNutt.

“What they’re doing is they’re taking water away from somebody that could be miles and miles and miles away… who needs it for cooking, cleaning or bathing.”
