A blast shook the heart of Taganrog, a Russian city located near the Ukraine border on Friday, as reported by state media. The incident resulted in injuries to several people. The exact cause of the explosion remains unknown, and there are conflicting reports regarding the number of casualties.
Images of debris and a partially damaged building were shared on the state-owned news agency RIA Novosti’s Telegram channel. Rostov Regional Governor Vasily Golubev stated that four individuals had been injured in the incident. However, contradictory to this, unnamed emergency service officials were cited in a separate post, claiming that seven people had been injured.

In a different incident, Alexander Khinshtein, a prominent Russian lawmaker, mentioned on his Telegram channel that an explosion occurred at a major oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region, located approximately 850 miles north of Taganrog. He indicated that the initial information pointed to the explosion being caused by an explosive device. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and the extent of the damage was deemed not severe.
