Delone Redden, the individual responsible for the assault, was undergoing sentencing for aggravated battery, and causing significant physical harm, when he launched an attack on Judge Mary Kay Holthus. Redden had previously admitted guilt in a separate hearing.
A video recording captures the moment when Judge Holthus, citing Delone Redden’s criminal record, rejects his plea for probation and is about to sentence Delone Redden to imprisonment. At this point, Redden is seen suddenly jumping over the bench and attacking the judge.
During the assault, Redden is heard striking the judge repeatedly and shouting profanities, while security personnel struggle to subdue him.

The Las Vegas District Court reports that Judge Holthus sustained injuries from the incident and her health is currently under observation. Additionally, a marshal was injured in the incident and has been taken to a medical facility for treatment.
