On Wednesday, Danny Masterson, recognized for his character in “That ’70s Show,” initiated serving a sentence in state prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting two women.
Masterson, who is 47 years old, was admitted to North Kern State Prison in Delano. This has been verified by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. As per their announcement, he will undergo the typical classification and reception procedure currently.
The agency released a booking photo of Masterson donning a complete beard and wearing an orange prison jumpsuit. As per the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, it may take up to 90 days for Masterson’s ultimate placement in prison to be determined.
Following a retrial in September, Masterson was found guilty by a jury on two counts of forcible rape and received a sentence of 30 years to life. The charges were based on allegations made by three women who accused him of raping them between the years 2001 and 2003.
Masterson has been sentenced to two back-to-back terms of 15 years each, one for every charge against him. He is also obliged to register as a sex offender. The third count relating to Jane Doe No. 3 led to a mistrial declaration, and was ultimately dismissed when the prosecution opted not to pursue another trial for that particular charge.
After his conviction, Masterson was considered likely to flee and arrested promptly. He had been confined in Los Angeles County jail until being transferred to a state prison.
