Columbus law enforcement is currently conducting an investigation into a disturbing incident where a father reported that Columbus Police officers hinted at possible charges against his 11-year-old daughter, who had fallen victim to an “online predator.”
In a video circulating on social media, an unidentified man is seen engaging in a conversation with officers who had responded to his plea for help regarding his daughter, who had been coerced into sharing explicit images. The father’s primary concern was to have someone talk to his daughter, helping her understand the gravity of the situation. Frustratingly, he expressed his belief that there might not be much he could do.
During the exchange, one officer disturbingly suggests that the young girl “could probably get charged with child porn” if she had created the explicit images. Even when informed of the girl’s tender age of 11, the officer callously responds with, “Doesn’t matter. She’s still making porn.” The father, explaining that his daughter was being manipulated by an adult online, was asked whether the girl was taking pictures. At this point, the conversation abruptly ended, and the officers departed, as depicted in the video.
The exact date of this troubling interaction remains unclear; however, the social media source claims it occurred approximately six hours after the father initially contacted the police.
On Monday, the Columbus Police Department announced that the city’s Department of the Inspector General, responsible for investigating complaints of misconduct and excessive use of force by law enforcement personnel, had launched an inquiry into the incident.
