In Cape Cod, Massachusetts, a devastating boat incident took place on Friday night, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old girl, identified as Sadie Mauro, and injuring five others. The boat collided with a jetty at Sesuit Harbor in Dennis around 9 p.m. local time. After intensive efforts by the Massachusetts State Police (MSP) regional dive team and the Dennis Fire-Rescue team, the young girl’s body was recovered at 11:30 p.m. Sadly; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tragedy has left the community at Dover Sherborn High School, where Sadie Mauro was a student, in deep sorrow. The school is providing counseling services to support students and staff during this difficult time. The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit for the Cape and Islands District, along with Dennis police and the Cape and Island District Attorney’s Office, are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
In a separate incident at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, an intoxicated boater caused chaos when their 1200-horsepower boat crashed into a shorefront home, resulting in injuries to eight people. The accident occurred at 11:55 p.m. on Saturday when the boat ran aground, overturned, and ejected all seven passengers and the driver. Two passengers sustained moderate injuries, while the boat’s driver and five other passengers suffered serious injuries.
One person is reported to be in critical condition, according to the Lake Ozark Fire Protection District. The driver of the boat, Adam Ramirez, a 47-year-old from Huntington Beach, California, was charged with two counts of boating while intoxicated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Sunday morning. He has since been released for medical treatment. The home that was hit during the crash suffered extensive damage.
