Actor Adam DeVine recounted a terrifying incident he and his wife Chloe Bridges witnessed outside their $2.6 million Hollywood mansion. During a live recording of the “This Is Important” podcast, the 39-year-old “Pitch Perfect” star shared the harrowing moment when they observed a man being fatally shot across the street.
DeVine described the scene, explaining that a high-stakes poker game was taking place nearby, attracting flashy cars and older men known for their involvement with illicit activities. Intrigued, he and his wife decided to watch from their balcony, unaware of the tragedy that would unfold.
The actor, cautioning the audience about the sombre turn the story would take, recounted the events that occurred around 2 a.m. The victim, later identified as 39-year-old Emil Lahaziel, fell victim to multiple gunshot wounds.
In a shocked tone, DeVine expressed his realization, saying, “Someone was murdered there. Someone was murdered.” He had predicted the possibility of a violent outcome, further emphasizing the grim reality of the situation.
The podcast hosts reacted with surprise to DeVine’s retelling, with one acknowledging the sadness of the situation and another acknowledging the loss of human life.
DeVine resides opposite the location where Lahaziel tragically lost his life. The incident unfolded after Lahaziel became involved in a heated altercation with another individual in the driveway. During the confrontation, the unidentified man produced a handgun and fired multiple shots at Lahaziel.

Upon arrival, LAPD officers attempted to resuscitate Lahaziel, but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Authorities stated that the shooting is not believed to be gang-related, while the perpetrator remains at large as of Thursday morning.
