In a court appearance on Monday, Joshua Pavao, a Florida motorist, faced charges after allegedly firing shots at an East Providence home and leading Rhode Island officers on a high-speed pursuit last week.
Police discovered over 1,000 rounds of ammunition in Pavao’s black Nissan Armada, along with several firearms found in a discarded backpack along the chase route.
Joshua Pavao, 43, whose last known address is in Kissimmee, was slapped with more than 100 charges. During the court session, no pleas were entered. His bail was set at $100,000 with surety, and he was instructed to surrender all firearms and his passport.
Although Pavao resides with a parent in Florida, he will only be allowed to return after meeting pre-trial conditions. The court clerk’s office did not immediately provide information about Pavao’s legal representation.

Throughout the pursuit, Pavao collided with multiple vehicles. The chase concluded when his SUV crashed in East Providence, spilling bullets and cartridges onto the roadway. Pavao abandoned his vehicle, attempted to flee on foot, and was subsequently apprehended by the police.

Police Chief Christopher Francesconi expressed concern about the incident, stating, “This was an extremely volatile situation involving a dangerous and unpredictable suspect who put so many of our residents and police officers in harm’s way.” Pavao faces a myriad of charges, including 106 counts of possessing a large-capacity feeding device, discharging a weapon from a vehicle, eluding an officer, and obstructing officers.
