In a shocking courtroom brawl in San Antonio, a man facing charges for the murder of a 15-year-old boy in May 2022 was assaulted by members of the victim’s family during a courtroom proceeding, according to authorities.
The accused, Victor Rivas, 18, who is charged with murder in the death of Ethan Soto, was awaiting a preliminary hearing in a Bexar County courtroom last Friday when the attack took place.
Victor Rivas’ attorney, Adam LaHood, confirmed that his client sustained injuries during the altercation, stating that he would be “bruised and swollen,” but no significant harm was inflicted.
Authorities have arrested four individuals, including two men and two juveniles, in connection with the assault. They will face charges of assault and disrupting court proceedings. However, their identities have not been disclosed.
This event follows another recent courtroom brawl in Houston, where family members of a murdered 16-year-old girl attempted to attack her ex-boyfriend after he pleaded guilty to shooting her during a Harris County court hearing.
