19 Injured After Jail Transport Van Collides with Vehicle

Nineteen people were injured on Wednesday when a jail transport van collided with another vehicle and then hit a pole in northeastern Illinois.

The van, carrying 16 prisoners, was en route to the McHenry County Jail at the time of the crash, according to a statement from Grayslake Hainesville Police Chief Jeff Myhra on Facebook.

The incident took place around 1 p.m. in Round Lake, when a second vehicle made a left turn in front of the van, leading to the collision. Two individuals are reported to be in serious condition, though the exact number of prisoners injured has not yet been confirmed.

Authorities are currently investigating the crash.

Round Lake is located about 50 miles (80 kilometers) northwest of Chicago.
