A tragic incident unfolded in Georgia over the weekend, claiming the life of a 21-year-old former high school soccer standout. Brianna Long, once a star on the soccer field, met an untimely demise when a stray bullet struck her as she was concluding her shift at a bar. Authorities are currently in pursuit of the unidentified shooter responsible for this senseless act.

The incident occurred in Remerton at The Pier bar, where Brianna and her colleagues were in the process of closing up shop at around 2:30 a.m. on a Sunday. Notably, the bar had already closed its doors to customers at 2 a.m. when the unfortunate shooting transpired. Following the incident, Long was rushed to South Georgia Medical Center, where her life tragically slipped away.

Preliminary findings from law enforcement suggest that there was an altercation outside The Pier that eventually escalated into gunfire. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has taken charge of the case, spearheading the investigative efforts.

Brianna Long, a standout student, had previously been recognized as the Regional Winner for Positive Athlete Georgia, a prestigious honor that set her apart from thousands of students in the state, according to Paulding County High School.

The chaotic scene unfolded with several patrons still present outside the bar during the shooting, resulting in damage to multiple vehicles. To determine the precise cause of death, a GBI medical examiner will conduct an autopsy.

In response to the tragedy, The Pier bar issued a heartfelt statement on Instagram, conveying the immense grief and loss felt by Brianna’s coworkers and friends: “As most of you know we lost the beautiful soul of Brianna Long tragically and suddenly early Sunday Morning. Writing this seems impossible and is incredibly devastating, like a terrible nightmare we wish we could all wake up from.”

The statement continued, “It’s hard to find the right words because there is really nothing right about the situation. If you knew Bri, you loved her. Her kindness and love radiated onto everyone who had the opportunity to meet her, know her, and love her.”
