In the season of being thankful for things in our lives, it sounds like this Ohio woman did not keep that in mind when she murdered her grandmother by drowning her in the kitchen sink.
According to the Eaton Police Division, Heidi Matheny, 35, turned herself into the police, claiming she had drowned her grandmother, 93-year-old Alice Matheny after doctors told her Alice needed to be in a nursing home, WDTN reported.
The day before this incident occurred, Heidi reportedly took her grandmother to a doctor’s appointment. The doctor informed Heidi that Alice needed to be in a nursing home, which Heidi could not afford, and insurance would not cover it.
Heidi told the police that before the murder, they bonded by eating ice cream. Then while the victim was washing the dishes, Heidi drowned the grandmother by holding the head into the sink.
To make sure she was dead, Heidi told police she brought her grandmother to the bathtub.
Eaton Police Division Chief Steven Hurd said that Heidi thinks her grandmother is the best in the world, but she got tired of taking care of her.
After placing Alice in the bathtub, Heidi reportedly left the apartment through the window and walked to the sheriff’s office. Officers went to the apartment to investigate, and they found Alice lying dead in the bathtub, officials said. She was brought to the coroner’s office for an autopsy.
