SEOUL, South Korea — South Korean police are considering a travel ban on President Yoon Suk Yeol as part of their investigation into the legality of last week’s controversial martial law declaration, a senior officer announced on Monday.

Speaking at a press conference, Woo Jong-soo, a senior officer overseeing the inquiry, emphasized that no individual is exempt from the investigation.

“There are no human or physical restrictions to the subject of an investigation,” Woo stated, outlining the broad scope of the inquiry into the events surrounding the December 3 martial law declaration.

The investigative team initially comprised 120 members from the Security Investigation Division, but the group has since expanded to around 150 personnel as of Sunday.

Woo confirmed that the team has already conducted searches and seizures at key locations, including the office, official residence, and home of former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, a primary suspect in the case. Investigators are also questioning critical witnesses from the National Election Commission and the Ministry of National Defense.

“Going forward, we plan to closely investigate the decision-making process related to the declaration of martial law, the damage to the National Assembly and the National Election Commission, and the police measures,” Woo explained.
