An Indian teen has opened up about his lifelong experience living with werewolf fur all over his body due to a medical condition.
Lalit Patidar, a 17 years old teen, said that people always throw stones at him because of his looks. They are worried that Patidar will bite them.
The teen, who lives in Nandleta in Madhya Pradesh, has been diagnosed with hypertrichosis, a rare condition that causes a person to grow excessive hair all over their body.
Also known as werewolf syndrome, hypertrichosis can be generalized or localized. The generalized condition will cause hair growth all over the body, while the localized condition will cause hair growth in one specific body part.
There is no cure for the condition. Sufferers may try to manage it by trimming, shaving, waxing, and other hair removal messages.
The condition is extremely rare, with less than 100 cases occurring since the Middle Ages.
He mentioned that when he was a child, he didn’t notice anything different until he reached 6 or 7 years old. His hair was growing rapidly all over his body, which was unusual.
Things began getting worse as he got older. His classmates would tease him and even throw stones at him. There are also times when he notices how people look at him and hide their children from him.
But now, Pradesh is becoming more comfortable with who he is.
The teen has also started blogging and creating videos about his condition. He hopes to someday become a YouTuber.
He encourages people not to let their physical appearance keep them from following their dreams.
