Larry Nassar, the former sports doctor convicted of sexually abusing female gymnasts, was brutally stabbed multiple times during a confrontation with another inmate at a federal prison in Florida, as reported by a prison union leader. Joe Rojas, the president of Local 506, which represents employees at the Federal Correctional Complex Coleman, confirmed that Nassar sustained two stab wounds to the neck, two to the back, and six to the chest, resulting in a collapsed lung. Nassar, aged 59, is currently in stable condition.
Nassar, known for his heinous crimes of sexual assault against gymnasts, including Olympic medalists, was sentenced to several decades in prison. He pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting gymnasts and other athletes, using his hands under the guise of medical treatment for hip and leg injuries. During his trial, over 150 survivors came forward to share their harrowing experiences and submitted statements detailing the extent of his abuse.
In addition to his convictions in state and federal courts, Nassar separately pleaded guilty to the possession of child pornography. Last year, the Michigan Supreme Court rejected his final appeal, upholding his prison sentence.
