Investigators are piecing more clues, which may reveal what caused Aaron Carter’s death.
Officers on the scene reportedly discovered compressed air cans alongside his body in the bathroom of his Lancaster, CA home. At the scene, prescription pill bottles were also discovered.
Euphoria, delusions, and hallucinations can result from inhaling compressed air. It can also result in brain damage and paralysis.
Carter first revealed his compressed air addiction on the TV show “The Doctors” in 2019. The show featured health and wellness experts conducting celebrity interviews in order to determine the root cause of their physical ailments.
Leslie Carter, the singer’s sister, allegedly introduced him to the habit. Leslie died of an overdose in 2012, at the age of 25.
Aside from the air cans and prescription pills, police discovered no illegal drugs or evidence of criminal activity at the scene.
His death occurred just weeks after he entered an outpatient rehab facility following the loss of custody of his 11-month-old son.
Due to Carter’s history of drug abuse and domestic violence, a court order mandated that the boy’s mother, Melanie Martin, retain custody of the child, Prince.
Carter was last seen alive by his housekeeper at 2 a.m. on Friday, after cops arrived to check on him. It wasn’t clear who ordered the check.
He requested that the housekeeper leave him alone. She stayed away from him until Saturday morning, when she went to see if he wanted coffee.
She entered the room after hearing his dog barking behind the door and discovering his lifeless body in the bathtub. She dialed 911 and reported the death.
Officers arrived on the scene to find the bathwater discolored and the body showing signs of decomposition. He had clearly spent some time in the bath.
The cause of death is still unknown due to pending toxicology reports.
