Authorities are intensively searching for Charlotte Sena, a 9-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted while camping with her family at the New York Moreau Lake State Park in Saratoga County, situated approximately 50 miles north of Albany. The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday evening, and Charlotte was last seen wearing an orange tie-dye Pokémon shirt, dark blue pants, black Crocs, and a gray bike helmet. She is described as 4 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 90 pounds, with blond hair.

An Amber Alert was activated by state police shortly after 9:30 a.m. local time on Sunday, categorizing it as a “child abduction” that transpired at around 6:45 p.m. the previous night. The Amber Alert states that the child’s circumstances suggest she is in imminent danger of serious harm or even death.

Lt. Col. Richard Mazzone, speaking to reporters following an extensive search of the park, indicated that it is highly probable that Charlotte was abducted. The Sena family released a statement to the media, expressing their desire for her safe return and urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward.

Governor Kathy Hochul revealed that Charlotte and her family were camping only 15 minutes from their residence and provided details about her last moments before disappearing. Charlotte had been biking around Loop A of the park with family friends but expressed her intention to complete one more loop by herself. Her parents and nearby campers initiated a search when she did not return within 15 minutes. Her bike was discovered on the loop at 6:45 p.m., and her mother reported her missing to 911 two minutes later. State police arrived at the scene by 7 p.m.

The search effort involves over 100 personnel, 75 law enforcement officials, tracking dogs, two drones, two boats, and six underwater rescue teams. A command post has been established at the state park, and technology experts have been brought in to analyze other forms of park communication during that time.

Governor Hochul, deeply moved by the situation, met with Charlotte’s distressed parents and assured them of the government’s commitment to finding their daughter. She called upon anyone with information or potential witnesses to contact 911 and empathized with the pain and anguish Charlotte’s family is experiencing.

“As a mother and as a grandmother, I cannot imagine the pain they’re going through,” Hochul said, adding that Charlotte is a joyful fourth grader recently elected to be a class officer for student council. She pleaded with the public to assist in reuniting the family and expressed hope for a positive outcome in the face of a heart-wrenching situation.
