Many lawsuits are filed that make us shake our heads and wonder what these people are thinking, but a Florida woman suing Velveeta may win the wackiest lawsuit ever. The woman mounted a class action lawsuit against Velveeta. Why the lawsuit? She claims the macaroni and cheese took too much time and steps to prepare, so she deserves $5 million.
According to Insider, Amanda Ramirez filed the lawsuit against Kraft Heinz Foods Company and has asked for up to $5 million. In the lawsuit, the Florida woman suing Velveeta claims that Velveeta did not take 3-and-a-half minutes to cook and that only the actual microwaving step took that long.
In the court paperwork, Ramirez said the instructions for cooking the mac and cheese were misleading and false. She said the product takes more than 3 1⁄2 minutes to cook, which is not what the product claims to offer.
She went on to say that she filed the class action lawsuit because others can be misled due to misrepresentation. She also claimed that Velveeta reaped illegitimate profits based on false advertising, noting she did not feel duped by other products.
A spokesperson for Kraft Heinz told Insider that they are aware of the lawsuit and will do everything they can to defend the company from the allegations.
