The crowd, gathered near the intersection of 9th and Flower streets, was declared an unlawful assembly by LAPD after celebratory revelry escalated.

The LAPD took to social media, urging attendees to “leave the area immediately and follow all officers’ orders.” As police moved to clear the area, the crowd began migrating eastward towards 8th Street, the department reported. By then, the situation intensified, with “various projectiles being thrown at LAPD officers” near Olympic and Grand avenues. Additional law enforcement resources were dispatched to address the escalating tension.
