NEW YORK – Rapper Busta Rhymes, whose legal name is Trevor Smith, has been accused of repeatedly punching another man in the face, according to police reports from Friday.

Police stated that Rhymes was issued a desk appearance ticket for third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, on Tuesday related to an incident that took place in Brooklyn, New York, on January 10.

Officers responding to a 911 call in the Dumbo neighborhood that evening were informed by a 50-year-old man that he had been arguing with another individual, who then punched him in the face several times. The Brooklyn district attorney’s office revealed that Smith is scheduled to appear in court on February 3, but provided no additional information about the case at this time.
