The robbery took place on Wednesday morning, just after 8 a.m. outside a store on Curry Ford Road, near the intersection of S. Goldenrod Road in Orlando, according to a statement from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Surveillance footage, shared publicly by authorities, shows the unnamed elderly woman exiting the store with her lottery winnings in hand. Moments later, the suspect, identified as Diego Stalin Tavarez Fleury, approaches her directly, attempting to forcefully steal the money from her grasp as she resists.

Good Samaritan Steps In
As the robbery unfolded, another man who had been inside the store rushed outside and attempted to intervene. Despite the Good Samaritan’s efforts to stop the robbery, Fleury persisted, violently dragging the elderly woman away from her vehicle and further into the parking lot before successfully snatching her winnings and fleeing the scene.
Suspect Still at Large
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that Fleury remains at large and is wanted on multiple charges, including:

- Battery on a Person 65 or Older
