GREENWOOD, Ark. — Two students from the Greenwood School District were among the three people who tragically lost their lives in a house fire early Wednesday morning in western Arkansas, district officials confirmed.

Greenwood Police responded to the scene shortly after midnight, as announced in a Facebook post. Authorities have not yet released the names or ages of the victims. A fourth person was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and crews continued to process the scene as of Wednesday morning.

In response to the loss, Greenwood Public Schools has arranged for counselors to support students and staff at each campus.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to the families involved, as well as to our dedicated staff and students, as we navigate this sorrow together,” the district said in a statement.
Greenwood is located approximately 95 miles northwest of Little Rock.
