Sean Combs Accuses Government of Leaking Details of His Indictment

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team accused federal agents and prosecutors of improper leaks in a court filing on Wednesday.

Combs has been held without bail since his arrest last month on charges including sex trafficking by force, transportation for prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy.

On the eve of his upcoming court appearance, his attorneys claimed that unlawful leaks have resulted in “damaging, highly prejudicial pretrial publicity that threatens to taint the jury pool and undermine Mr. Combs’ right to a fair trial,” according to the defense filing.

The defense specifically criticized Homeland Security for its handling of searches at Combs’ properties, and prosecutors for their involvement in a 2016 video showing Combs physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, Casandra Ventura.

The video, obtained by CNN in May, was acknowledged by Combs, who has since apologized for his actions. Prosecutors referenced the video in the indictment, alleging that Combs attempted to bribe a hotel security employee with a “stack of cash” after the employee intervened in the incident.

Combs’ attorneys have requested a hearing to examine the evidence, but prosecutors have yet to respond.

In a separate filing on Wednesday, Combs expressed his intent to stand trial on charges of racketeering conspiracy, forced sex trafficking, and prostitution. His attorneys, Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, wrote to the judge requesting a trial date in April or May 2025, in accordance with the court’s schedule.

Prosecutors did not object to setting a trial date, stating they are prepared for a trial whenever the court decides. Combs has pleaded not guilty and remains in custody, with his legal team pressing for a speedy trial.

“We’re pushing to move this case forward as quickly as possible,” Agnifilo said during a previous court appearance.

Combs also faces several civil lawsuits from alleged victims but continues to maintain his innocence regarding the criminal charges.
