Four Killed in Train Shooting Near Chicago

Four people lost their lives in a tragic shooting that took place early Monday on a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) train in Forest Park, Illinois, authorities confirmed.

The Forest Park Police Department responded to a 911 call around 5:30 a.m. local time, reporting multiple individuals shot aboard a westbound train at the CTA Blue Line station in Forest Park, located just west of Chicago.

Upon clearing the station, officers discovered four victims. Three were pronounced dead at the scene, while the fourth was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where they later succumbed to their injuries.

Using video surveillance from CTA security, Forest Park police, in collaboration with the Chicago Police Department, were able to identify a suspect. The individual, matching the description provided, was located on a CTA Pink Line train and taken into custody. A firearm was recovered during the arrest, according to the Forest Park police.

Officials from Forest Park believe the incident was isolated and assured the community that there is no ongoing threat.

In a statement, the CTA condemned the shooting as a “heinous and egregious act of violence” that should never have occurred, particularly on public transit.
