Ohio Marijuana Businesses Hit with $212K Fines for Ice Cream Truck Promotions

Marijuana businesses in Ohio are prohibited from distributing food and drinks from ice cream trucks, according to state regulators.

Additionally, online promotions with phrases like “Can you take me higher?” are also restricted.

Media reported that Ohio’s Division of Cannabis Control has proposed $212,000 in fines against five businesses for violating the state’s advertising rules for marijuana sellers.

Many of these fines stemmed from promotions held in the summer, leading up to the start of recreational marijuana sales on August 6. Some violations included the use of oversized or unapproved signage.

The largest fine, $150,000, was directed at Greenleaf Apothecaries, which runs dispensaries in Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Columbus, and Wickliffe.
