Two small planes crashed into fields in northeast Nebraska on Monday, resulting in at least one fatality.
The incidents occurred within a half-hour of each other, around 9:30 a.m. The first crash involved a Rans S-19 plane near Crofton in Knox County. Shortly afterward, a Piper PA-28-140 aircraft went down near Wayne in Wayne County.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the pilot of the Rans S-19 plane was killed in the crash, and no other passengers were on board. The pilot’s identity had not been released as of Monday afternoon.

Details regarding the Wayne County crash were not immediately disclosed by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is dispatching investigators to determine the causes of both crashes. However, final reports from the NTSB typically take over a year to complete.
