Second Suspect Arrested in Shooting of Tennessee Trooper

Tennessee Trooper Adam Cothron had stopped a Kia Forte driven by Timothy Davis Jr. on Interstate 40 on Friday. When he approached the vehicle, Davis shot Cothron, critically wounding him, according to a news release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. As of Tuesday, Cothron remains hospitalized.

Davis, 25, was apprehended in Nashville on Monday night and has been charged with attempted first-degree murder of the Tennessee Trooper. His passenger, Braze Rucker, 29, was previously arrested at a residence in Princeton and is charged with criminal responsibility for the facilitation of a felony.

“Trooper Cothron faces a long recovery journey,” said Col. Matt Perry of the highway patrol during a Tuesday news conference. “But he’s resilient. He’ll overcome this, and we’ll support him every step of the way.”

Perry praised law enforcement for their relentless efforts to apprehend the suspects following the “unprovoked” attack.

“Tennessee is safer today because these individuals are no longer on the streets,” he stated.
