NFL’s Terrell Davis Claims Unjust Handcuffing and ‘Humiliation’ on Flight

Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Davis shared on Monday that he felt “humiliated” after being handcuffed and removed from a United Airlines flight over the weekend, an incident for which law enforcement later apologized.

Terrell Davis, a former Denver Broncos player, recounted the incident on Instagram. He explained that he had tapped a flight attendant on the arm, which led the employee to shout “don’t hit me” and rush to the front of the plane.

Upon landing in Orange County, California, law enforcement boarded the flight, handcuffed Davis without explanation, and removed him from the plane, he wrote.

“I was – and remain – humiliated, embarrassed, powerless, and angry,” Davis expressed.

During questioning, law enforcement concluded that the flight attendant’s accusations were unfounded and offered an apology to Davis.

In a statement, United Airlines confirmed they had apologized to Davis’ team and had placed the flight attendant on leave pending a review of the incident.

“This is clearly not the kind of travel experience we strive to provide,” the airline stated.

FBI spokesperson Laura Eimiller confirmed that agents and law enforcement at Orange County’s John Wayne Airport responded to the report of an incident on the flight, detaining and subsequently releasing a cooperative individual.

Davis ended his Instagram post by calling for an investigation into the flight attendant’s conduct, stating that she “blatantly lied and placed undue harm on me and my family.”

Parker Stinar, Davis’ attorney, added: “We plan on fully investigating the events that took place and are actively contacting United Airlines regarding this matter.”
