Tragic Shooting Occurs at Chiefs Super Bowl Parade

A tragic incident unfolded in Kansas City, Missouri, following the parade and rally celebrating the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory, where one person died and at least 21 others were injured by gunfire, officials reported Wednesday.

The shooting occurred outside Union Station, near the garage, as fans were leaving the event, according to Kansas City police.

Eyewitness Arnold Sauther described chaotic scenes after the rally, as fans followed players into Union Station for autographs, only to suddenly see police running in. “You knew something happened in the station,” Sauther told media.

Amid the confusion, one woman recounted how they hid near an elevator, unsure if it was safe to leave, and “prayed” for their safety. She expressed gratitude upon seeing officers arrive.

Victims were rushed to several hospitals, with eight in critical condition and seven with life-threatening injuries, according to Interim Kansas City Fire Chief Ross Grundyson.

Children’s Mercy Kansas City Hospital treated 12 patients, including 11 children between 6 and 15 years old, with nine suffering gunshot wounds. Fortunately, all are expected to recover fully.

Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a DJ at KKFI 90.1 FM, was tragically killed in the shooting, the station confirmed, leaving the community devastated.

Police Chief Stacey Graves confirmed three suspects had been detained, but the motive remains unclear.
