Flood Watch Issued for 15 Million Americans

A coastal storm is currently soaking the Northeast, prompting a flood watch for fifteen million Americans and winter alerts for eight million facing snow alerts on Sunday. The precipitation varies across regions, with rain changing to wet snow in higher elevations due to just enough cold air colliding with the dynamic storm.

Winter weather advisories are active in numerous Northeast locations, while parts of Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire are upgraded to winter storm warnings. Weather forecasts indicate a predominantly cloudy, rainy, and snowy day for millions in the affected areas, though some breaks in rain are expected in certain Northeastern regions.

By Monday morning, the storm will largely dissipate in the East, but lingering snow showers may create slippery conditions for the morning commute.

Over the weekend, severe weather affected various parts of the country, with the Southwestern states experiencing heavy rain, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. Alabama, Georgia, and the Florida panhandle were under the threat of isolated tornadoes.

In the West, record warmth is settling across the coast on Sunday and Monday, with temperatures reaching the 60s and 70s from San Francisco to Seattle. More than a dozen cities are expected to witness record-high temperatures through the workweek. However, this pleasant weather is anticipated to change by the middle of the week, as the next storm system is forecasted to arrive on the West Coast on Wednesday and Thursday.
