Dog Eats Cash to the Value of $4,000

The tale of a dog devouring homework may be a cliché, but for a couple in Pennsylvania, this old adage turned into an expensive reality, costing them thousands of dollars as their dog eats cash.

Clayton and Carrie Law withdrew cash for a home improvement project, leaving the envelope on the countertop. Their dog, Cecil, seized the opportunity for an expensive snack.

Returning home, Clayton Law found Cecil standing over a pile of mutilated cash. The Laws were surprised as Cecil, a 100-pound doodle, had never shown interest in the countertop before.

The Laws, in disbelief, discovered the true extent of the situation when Cecil began to gag in the middle of the night. Rushing to prevent a mess, Clayton realized the vomit contained half-eaten $100 and $50 bills.

The following days involved the unpleasant task of sifting through their dog’s waste. Though they managed to recover most bills by washing and piecing them together, they eventually reached a point of diminishing returns. Their bank, understanding the situation, swapped out the salvageable bills. In the end, they recovered $3,550.

Describing the ordeal as an “expensive puzzle,” Clayton Law humorously acknowledges the unexpected turn of events. The Laws commend the bank for their understanding, revealing that such incidents are not uncommon.

Despite the setback to their original home improvement project, the Laws have found a creative outlet. Unable to reconstruct all the bills, they decided to craft art from the remaining pieces.

The couple shared Cecil’s misadventure on social media, where it gained viral attention. Carrie Law expresses joy in the positive response, noting that many can relate to the antics of pets or children. She emphasizes the universal sentiment of love prevailing over frustration in such situations.
