Prosecutors have charged a 29-year-old Californian man with murder in relation to a road rage shooting that resulted in the death of an innocent four-year-old boy last week.
Allegedly, Byron Burkhart fired eight shots at a moving vehicle on the Sierra Highway in Lancaster. He reportedly drove up alongside his victim’s car and began shooting, which ended with 4-year-old Gor Adamyan losing their life sitting behind their parents who were unharmed throughout this tragedy.
On Tuesday, the office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney reported that Burkhart has been accused of five felonies including murder, two counts of attempted murder, firing at an occupied automobile, and possessing a firearm as a convicted criminal.
Offering condolences to the family, District Attorney Gascón of Los Angeles County conveyed his sadness stating that it is heart-wrenching to witness a young life being lost due to an avoidable act of road rage. This tragedy has shaken their family during what should have been a happy and joyful holiday season, leaving them with unimaginable pain.
The investigation was aided by the victim’s vehicle’s camera, which recorded Burkhart’s license plate during the incident according to prosecutors. Burkhart has been arrested and is set for arraignment on January 22nd with a bail request of $5.075 million from prosecutors.

Burkhart may be sentenced to life imprisonment if found guilty of all counts. It was observed that he had his partner, Alexandria Gentile, with him during the event. Although arrested for suspected murder as well, there are no charges against Ms.Gentile announced by the district attorney’s office yet and she was released on Tuesday afternoon.
