Derrick Ward, a former NFL running back who secured a Super Bowl palm with the New York Titans, was restrained on Monday for allegedly stealing several businesses in Southern California, authorities reported. The 43-year-old Ward has been indicted of committing theft at five establishments, including gas stations, according to the Los Angeles police.
Despite the series of offenses, the 6- 6-bottom, 230-poundex-footballer isn’t believed to have used an arm during any of the incidents. As of Tuesday, Ward was in the guardianship of the LAPD, with jail records indicating a bail quantum of 250,000. Ward, firstly from Riverside County in Southern California, played council football at Fresno State and Ottawa University in Kansas.
Although drafted by the New York Spurts in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL Draft, he was cut before making his regular-season debut. Nonetheless, Ward enjoyed an eight-season career as a craftsperson with brigades similar to the Titans, Tampa Bay Rovers, and Houston Texans. His fattest period was with the Titans in New Jersey, where he amassed 1,750 rushing yards on 342 carries (5.1 yards per carry) in 51 games between 2004 and 2009.
He especially contributed to the Titans’ 2007 platoon, which achieved a 10- 6 record in the regular season and settled a major Super Bowl palm by defeating the preliminarily undefeated New England Loyalists in a thrilling 17- 14 game on February 3, 2008. The game’s highlight was the notorious” Helmet Catch” by Titans wide receiver David Tyree, leading to the winning score.

Ward, unfortunately, didn’t play in the crown game due to a late-season leg injury. Still, he made a comeback in 2008, recording a career-high 1,025 rushing yards that season. As of Tuesday, it remains unclear whether Ward has enlisted the services of a felonious defense attorney. Attempts to reach his director for comment were unprofitable during reporting.
