According to law enforcement sources, a young woman, aged 20, has been apprehended and is set to face federal drug charges related to the tragic overdose death of Leandro Anthony De Niro-Rodriguez, Robert De Niro’s grandson.
Sofia Haley Marks is scheduled to make her initial court appearance on Friday in lower Manhattan, where she will be formally accused of drug distribution, as stated by law enforcement sources. Marks was taken into custody around 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Leandro Anthony De Niro-Rodriguez, a 19-year-old aspiring actor, was discovered unconscious on July 2 at 55 Wall St., which is situated less than a mile south of the courthouse where Marks is expected to appear. Authorities have confirmed that the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene, though the exact cause of death has yet to be disclosed. Law enforcement sources, however, indicate that they suspect his passing resulted from a drug overdose.
