In Newark on Monday morning, a police-involved shooting transpired, resulting in three individuals, including two officers, being hospitalized.
The incident unfolded at approximately 5 a.m. within the Ebon Square Apartments on Clinton Avenue, where law enforcement discharged their firearms on the third floor.
Authorities have confirmed that one individual was transported to the hospital to receive medical attention for an apparent gunshot wound. However, the condition of this person remains unknown.
Two officers were also taken to University Hospital for treatment, as per police reports. Additionally, investigators are en route to the hospital to secure the firearm utilized in the shooting for further examination and investigation.
The occurrence of such events has left local residents taken aback. One woman, who resides in close proximity to the incident, expressed her shock at witnessing the presence of police in her neighborhood.
“Having lived here for several years, I have never witnessed anything like this before. I leave my apartment, go about my business, return home, and everything is usually the same. This is the first time I’ve experienced something of this nature,” the woman recounted.

At approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, officers armed with long guns could be observed outside the apartment building.
