Titan Submarine Search: Rescuers Scramble to Locate Tourists Onboard

A frantic search and rescue operation is currently underway in the Atlantic Ocean, as authorities strive to locate a tourist submarine named “Titan” that has gone missing.

The vessel, owned by OceanGate Expeditions, is carrying five individuals, including prominent figures such as British billionaire explorer Hamish Harding, renowned French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Sulaiman Dawood. The fifth person onboard is believed to be Stockton Rush, the founder of OceanGate Expeditions.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning when the submersible, accompanied by the Canadian research vessel Polar Prince, submerged into the ocean depths. Approximately one hour and 45 minutes later, contact was lost between the Titan and Polar Prince, causing concern among authorities.

The Titan is equipped with a four-day emergency oxygen supply, providing a glimmer of hope for the stranded crew. As of Monday afternoon, Rear Admiral John Mauger of the US Coast Guard stated that there was an estimated time frame of 70 to 96 hours remaining for potential rescue efforts. OceanGate Expeditions, the company responsible for the tourist missions to view the Titanic wreckage, expressed its commitment to exploring all available avenues to ensure the safe return of the crew.
