Woman uses Tinder to get accused child molester arrested

A Florida woman went on Tinder to possibly find a date, but instead she put on her detective cap and helped police to arrest a man who has been accused of child molestation. Definitely not what you think would come of logging onto Tinder, right?

The encounter took place on the popular dating app after the woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, responded to a message from Nicolas Wallace, 29, on Wednesday, Oct. 12, News 6 reported. The conversation that followed led to his arrest two days later by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

After the initial message on Tinder, the woman and Wallace decided to message on Instagram. She said everything started out perfectly normal until he started to ask personal questions. She said, “He said, ‘What age did you first mess around?’ And I said I was 13, and I had it taken from me unwillingly.”

This prompted Wallace to say he was into young girls. The woman immediately sent the DMs to a law enforcement friend, who suggested she try to get some more information out of the man. From there, she told Wallace that she “didn’t judge him” and that is when he let his guard down.

The woman said, “I decided to ask what was the youngest that he would go, and he said, ‘Do you really [want to] know?’”

The man proceeded to tell her, “She was 8, never forced or anything, started off slow, always played [sexually explicit phrase], loved all that stuff. Then one day, finally, they had had sex.”

The woman said she has since deleted her Tinder account. After their conversation, she said she reported Wallace to multiple law enforcement agencies the next day, which went undercover using her social media account to investigate.

Wallace had his guard down and continued opening up to her, even sending four pictures of children being sexually abused. He tried to arrange a meet-up with the woman and even offered to bring a child with him, News 6 reported. The woman said, “It kind of disgusted me thinking he thought that I was OK with this.”

Wallace was arrested and faces multiple charges, including transmission of child pornography, possession of child pornography, solicitation to commit sexual battery on a victim less than 12 years of age, promoting the sexual performance of a minor, and sexual assault against a child under 12 years of age.

Detectives anticipate more charges will be coming after they examine his phone and tablet. They also believe there may be other victims out there, so if you or someone you know has been victimized by Wallace, you are asked to call Detective King at (352) 368-3586.
