Georgia Man Allegedly Kills Grandmother by Throwing Her in Freezer

Georgia Man Allegedly Throws Grandmother in Freezer to Die

A 29-year-old Georgia man has been accused by police of killing his 82-year-old grandmother by stuffing her into a freezer while she was alive and still breathing, according to authorities.

On April 14, the Fulton County Police said they found the body of Doris Cumming, 82, in a home located in Armuchee. Cumming shared the home with her grandson, Robert Keith Tincher III.

According to authorities, Cumming’s family thought she had moved out of state. However, they started to have concerns after they did not hear from her, so they reported she might be missing.

Officials said they believe Cumming was injured in some kind of fall back in December. However, Tincher never got her any medical attention, but instead, drug her through the home. According to the criminal charges, Tincher “heard and saw numerous bones break,” Yahoo! News reported.

At this point, police say Tincher then wrapped up Cumming in plastic bags and placed her in a large freezer. Court records say Tincher “acknowledged her back broke going into the freezer,” Yahoo! News stated. The charges go on to say that there was “no altercation or provocation” leading up to Tincher putting Cumming inside the freezer.

Floyd County Investigator Brittany Werner said, “From what we determined, at the time, he believed she was still breathing and had some movement at the time she was going into the freezer,” according to Yahoo! News.

With grandma stuffed in the freezer, Tincher continued to live in the home for months. However, he finally moved it to a storage unit in March, as he became fearful that someone would find her body, officials said.

So, why not just call for help? Tincher stated he didn’t call 911 because he was wanted for arrest on terroristic threats he made against his wife back in 2018. I guess that plan didn’t work out too well for him, because he is in jail now.

Tincher told investigators he loved his grandmother very much. Werner said, “He said she was the only family member that gave him the courtesy and love and attention he needed,” Yahoo! News stated.

An autopsy is being conducted on Cumming’s body by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to determine a cause and time of death.

Tincher was arrested and booked into jail in Rome. He was charged with murder, aggravated battery, and concealing the death of another, officials said.
