Jenna Jameson, once the world’s top adult film star, is now unable to walk.  The dazzling beauty is bedridden in a hospital after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome.  Jameson’s partner revealed the news on Instagram over the weekend.  The couple shares a 4-year-old daughter named Batel Lu.  The Instagram post detailed how Jameson is “…not feeling so good.”

Dishing the Details on Jameson’s Fall From the Top

Lior Bitton, Jameson’s partner, recently revealed his significant other had been vomiting for several weeks prior to undergoing tests at the hospital in the prior week.  Bitton states Jameson was later sent home, yet wasn’t able to walk.

Bitton states, “Then she came back home and she couldn’t carry herself.  Her muscles in her legs were very weak. So she wasn’t able to walk to the bathroom. She was falling on the way back or to the bathroom, I would have to pick her up and carry her to bed. And then within two days, it got really not so good, her legs started to not hold her, she wasn’t able to walk.”

Bitton transported Jameson back to the same hospital for additional testing after her bouts with crippling nausea and immobility.  Jameson underwent an MRI, a CT, and a spinal tap. Doctors then determined that she was suffering from the effects of Guillain-Barre syndrome.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) states this syndrome is an uncommon autoimmune disorder in which a patient’s immune system damages nerves within the body, spurring muscle weakness and even paralysis.  Guillain-Barre syndrome symptoms have the potential to last between a couple weeks and a couple years.  Most patients stricken by Guillain-Barre syndrome recover, yet some suffer lasting nerve damage.

Bitton’s Instagram post went on to detail how Jameson was getting an elevated dose of immunoglobulin therapy.  Jameson is currently engaged in physical therapy in an attempt to stand on her own once again.  However, at the moment, she cannot stand upright without the assistance of another person or crutches.  Treatment for her condition has the potential to bolster her strength to the point that she can live a normal life, yet there is no guarantee she will be able to stand, or walk again.

Jameson Responds to Fans with a Video

Jameson took to social media on Monday to calm her concerned fans.  The former porn star posted a video to confirm her diagnosis.  Jameson also expressed gratitude to her fans for their warm wishes.  However, she went out of her way to state she did not receive the coronavirus vaccination.  She made it perfectly clear that her condition is not a reaction to vaccination.  Jameson felt the need to make the comments, since she has gone out of her way to detail her anti-vaccination stance on several social media platforms.

Bitton also chimed in with additional information for her audience, urging her social media followers to continue praying for her and not to lose hope.  The couple stated that they see all of the direct messages sent to her social media accounts and appreciate those forms of outreach.

Perhaps the oddest part of Jameson’s insistence on publicizing her hospital stay is her attempt to look glamorous while bedridden.  Jameson used a filter that made her eyelashes look significantly longer than they actually are.  She also turned the camera during the recording to show her fans her IV drip, stating, “I’m getting my second IVIG.  I just had an infusion, and we’re just working toward getting better.”

There is Hope for Guillain-Barre Sufferers Such as Jameson

The description of Guillain-Barre syndrome is certainly concerning, but there is no guarantee Jameson’s condition will worsen.  Plenty of patients with this syndrome recover within a couple weeks.  However, it is also possible that the syndrome will cause paralysis.  If Jameson’s syndrome turns out to be extreme, it is possible she will remain bedridden for the rest of her life or suffer partial or full paralysis.

Some Guillain-Barre syndrome patients experience the condition for several years, and it has the potential to be deadly.  The symptoms of the syndrome are quite disturbing.  Aside from respiratory illness, those diagnosed with the syndrome also suffer nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea for days, or even several weeks.

Guillain-Barre syndrome can also occur after infections with specific viruses.  It is also worth noting the syndrome has the potential to arise after vaccination.  However, as Jameson explicitly stated in her Instagram caption and video, she is not vaccinated against COVID-19 and does not plan on getting the jab despite her likely exposure to the virus while hospitalized.
